Sue Bierman Park
San Francisco’s newest playground become a reality through collaboration between the city, the community and the private sector. With significant support from Zynga and $200,000 in Community Opportunity Funds from the Recreation and Park Department, nearly $900,000 was raised. Other major funders included The Bay Club, Salesforce Foundation, and Autodesk. ROMA Design Group and TECTONICS Architects provided pro bono design services.
The playground included state of the art, ADA-compliant structures designed for the children of different age groups between 2-12 years old. New landscape and irrigation was designed to complement the surrounding park area. The playground design and equipment selection process involved careful consideration of the health and safety of the children, the environment, and the community.
As the AE Designer of Record, TECTONICS provided site planning and landscape design for this popular downtown playground.
