PN79618 is a FY 13 project and consists of the design of an 37,278 SF addition to an existing Flight Simulator Building located in the Butts Army Airfield area at Fort Carson, Colorado. The addition included two components, an

Administrative wing housing offices, classrooms, work and storage rooms, a secure teleconferencing room and support spaces and a high-bay Trainer Wing housing seven non-motion based transportable flight simulators, with exterior support spaces accommodating the simulators’ associated mechanical equipment. The project required a high level of coordination to accommodate various specialized project needs such as:

  • Site design to accommodate relocation of transportable trainers, as well as with ongoing Base-wide infrastructure upgrade construction projects;
  • Mechanical system design to coordinate with the concurrent design and construction of a Central Utility Plant providing supporting utilities for facility;
  • Specialized systems design including mass notification systems, acoustical engineering, AV design, FF&E design and HVAC for trainers.
