Flight Training Classrooms and Flight Simulator – Travis AFB

This 22,000 SF facility contains a KC-10 high-bay flight simulator and associated training facilities including a Boom Operator Trainer and a Cockpit Trainer.  The building was designed to accommodate a future simulator and additional classrooms.

The building was designed to respond to a set of stringent architectural guidelines established by Travis Air Force Base.  The building was also designed to provide acoustical attenuation because of its adjacency to the Base’s runways.

The building is a one-story structure framed in steel.  Special consideration was required for seismic separation of the simulator bay with the main building.

TECTONICS received a Design Excellence Award from the U.S. Navy for this project.
